i just purchased a 04' accord v6, according to the dealer, i'm to use regular grade gasoline (87 octane) only. i'm told that the vehicle is tuned for this "cooler" burning gas. i want to know what you all think of this and if its safe to use 93 octane. have any of you been using 93 octane? if so, what has your experience been? i use 93 octane on my other vehicles (nissan & chevy), i get approximately 5mpg more using 93 than 87. so my question is - is it safe to use 93 on my 04' accord or am i going to be doing some damage to the engine since its tuned (according to the dealer) for 87 octane?

Re: which grade gasoline to use?
The car is designed for low octane fuel for a reason. Useing higher octane which burns hotter can cause a couple of problems. If you live in a hot climate it could cause vapor lock. According to the national average you do not get any signifigant gains in either power or fuel milage. You can choose its your car. Give me your e-mail adress and i will send you some paperwork explaining octane rateings alittle more [email protected]
