My 94 Z24 is giving me problems with the interior and tail lights. When I turn on the high beams they short out and I have to giggle the lever to make them come back on. How do I remove the cover on the steering column so I can see if I have a loose wire? My eyesight is not the best and I don't want to force or brake anything.

Re: Loose Wire?
there should only be a couple screws that hold it there. Then take a flashlight and see if the wire is broken, showing wires, what ever it may be thats shorting it out. And if its not there u might wanna check the connection on the interior light/ tail lights.

Re: Loose Wire?
Thanks for your quick responce to my question. I do see 3 screws under the steering column but once they are loose how does the cover come off. It almost looks like I have to remove all the levers for the wiper, lights and tilt. Do I have to remove them first, or does it just come off?

Re: Loose Wire?
I believe you must go "down through the column" to get to this turn/highbeam switch. Get a Haynes manual it will show how to access this switch. If you go down through you will need a special tool to remove the star plate. Autozone will loan you one for free. Good luck.

Re: Loose Wire?
Thanks for all the input. I had to replace the hole multi-function switch, it was going bad. But at least now I have tail lights.
