Keyless Entry Sticking
In the last few months my keyless entry system is sticking (solenoid engaged) either when I lock or unlock the vehicle. As a result the lights and audible alarm remain on and invariably drains the battery unless I notice it. It sometimes unsticks after another activation or deactivation or sometimes taking 10+ cylces to get it to unstick.
Dealer has no clue as to what is causing the problems. Service technician wrote on repair order that owner did not know how to use the system! This after owning the vehicle nearly 8 years. When they had the vehicle and did not notice the problem, that they said did not exist, they drained the battery. (This occuring on the very same day they said I did not know how to use the system.) Result was they found a corroded battery post. Fixing this did not result in fixing the sticking problem. It appears to happen more frequently in hot weather. The vehicle is stock standard except for a U-haul trailer wiring harness I installed 6 months before sticking problem occured. Is there a possibility of corrosion causing a short? Any suggestions? |

Re: Keyless Entry Sticking
My guess would be with a faulty switch. The remotes on the oem keyless systems are pretty weak. I would unplug the keyless system and see if that helps. Also, some GM vehicle are prone to shorts in the door jam harness which could also mess things up.

Re: Keyless Entry Sticking
Look at the relay's that controll the system, I would put money on one of them being junked, sounds like one is over heating and fusing on. I have never had this happen with a remote to a car, but i had it happen with my horns in a volvo i used to have.
