I've checked around and bought a Hanes manual and I'm not any farther. So I thought I'd check with you guys.
In order to get my alarm to work correctly I've got to install a door jam sensor in each door and run the wires back to the alarm. I go to Napa auto parts and they have 2, a single and a double circuit. *doh* Any one happen to know off hand which pin would be best? I'm guessing that the single allow current to flow when the door is open (allowing the the circuit to complete for a internal light and alarm "positive" ) Once I get this figured out I'm gonna bug Kustmace about building my own CAI. ![]() d3. |

Re: 90 z24 that doesn't have door sensors.
you already have the sensors in your door. you know how the lights come on and off with the door? that's the switch. just splice the wires from your alarm into the wires going to the switch. make sure you set your alarm for the right polarity

Re: 90 z24 that doesn't have door sensors.
You sure you should be doing this? I mean, everyone knows that you have door trigger wires. How in the world do you think the interior lights know when to come on? Look up your car's info at www.bulldogsecurity.com

![]() I open the door... and the alarm doesn't come on. Only when the shock sensor gets tripped does the alarm chirp. I've gone back and talked to the installer and he didn't belive me that the doors didn't have something. When I talked to the guys @ work same thing. Today when I checked with my buddy @ napa he said thats the weirdest thing he's seen. All things considered I'm not surprised. When I got the car home and went to change the fuel filter (located in front of the gas tank) it wasn't there. only a gaggle of hose clamps in its place. I'll be glad to take a picture of the door incase someone wants to point out where the heck it might be. At this point keeping the local punks outta my car is my priority. Slowly but surely I'm getting the kinks out. d3. |

Re: 90 z24 that doesn't have door sensors.
these cars do not have a pin type door jam switch. The switch is in the door latch, and the lights are operated thru a door chime module located under the dash on the drivers side near the left front dash speaker. I have never attempted to wire an alarm thru the chime module, but you can drill a hole in the door jam and install a universal style that will hook up to your alarm.

Re: 90 z24 that doesn't have door sensors.
sorry dee, i hooked mine up through the lighting system. if yours stays on all the time it sounds like you're S.O.L. on your stock setup.

Re: 90 z24 that doesn't have door sensors.
You need to check to check the white door trigger wire is being grounded out all the time or not. My guess is the switch itself is bad and is constantly grounding out. Didn't the installer notice anything wrong?????

So if I'm sol on the door latch...
and need to install a sensor... should it be a single or a double? Maybe I'll just call the dude who installed my viper and ask. heh. Besides... I'd rather have it hooked to a sensor that lets em have it when the door gets opened. Thanks for the feedback peoples. d3. |
