I have a 94 but it should be the same as long as you talking about the one in the rear quarter panel not the one on the deck lid. In the trunk there should be a plastic cover over the back of the tail light...remove this and you can see the bolts for the tail light...remove bolts and the light comes out.

Re: how to remove '97 tail light?

I have a 96 Accord EX, and its exactly the same. For the outer lights on the rear quarterpanels, you will have 3 or 4 nuts that hold studs fixed in the taillight itself. The inner portions that are fixed to the trunk lid are the same way. Either way, sometimes the seal around the taillights can make it seem still tight. Try just giving them a little nudge and its domino effect from there.

95 Accords have four gold colored studs with nuts (don't go there ). Takes about five minutes to swap out. Just did my rear passenger side assembly.
