Need help finding out about different colors for F1 Roadcars

Thanks for looking... here's a quote to kick this off --->

The information on the Black LM's doesn't come from an article, it actually comes from the Chassis History printed on the poster which is included with "Driving Ambition". The poster has the chassis number, build order and original exterior color of every McLaren F1 produced.

Does anyone have a picture of this? I am retexturing an F1 for a computer game, and I'm very picky about factory correctness. I would almost need paint chips/pictures, not just color names.

Thanks for checking this out, and I hope somebody can get this.

edit: I found this ( http://a3.cpimg.com/image/FB/D6/1692...-028001B2-.jpg ) but it isn't big enough for me to see the F1 Roadcar color chart...

thanks for the link, I can probably google most of the colors and find a paint chip to match.

heh... there's the 2 black with graphics F1 LM's... wonder what the graphics look like...

Wonder why?

Titanium Yellow, I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that!

And what kind of color is "Yquem" lol

wow! thanks! I've always admired AF as a source for correct information about some very nice cars. I hope I'm not annoying you guys with so many questions... feel free to post up more pictures of some of the more popular colors... I'm retexturing the McLaren F1 for Need for Speed 6... I'll show you guys the end result when I'm done with it. And again, thanks for all your help!

I'm looking for:
Dorchester Grey
Grand Prix Red
Cobalt Blue
Titanium Yellow
Aubergine
Calypso Red Pearl (I believe this is an Opel Speedster color)
British Racing Green
Special White
AMG Green Velvet

Re: Need help finding out about different colors for F1 Roadcars

If you want to see various pics of "Grand Prix Red," go to the thread called "First shot of #028 from Concorso Italiano..."

It should be near the top of the forum. Probably just under this one.

^ I never knew the F1 came in white. and I've certainly never seen it in that color. I think it looks rather brilliant.

thanks much for the color thing... and I did get a peek at that Grand Prix Red... a very pretty color.

I've noticed about 3 or 4 different front bumpers for F1 roadcars. What's up with this? some have foglights, some don't, some have a little mini vent right below the big ones on each side... some have a little darker dot right in the direct front of the bumper... what going on with that?

Oh, and that giant pic you posted... on the left side, 3rd from the top.... with the HDF... I sat in an F1, which I believe was that car. At Fox Valley Motor Cars in St. Charles, IL. And I was told by them that it was presold, and that Mr. T (who I know lives outside Chicago) bought it.

Moby, in this picture you will see there is a silver plaque in front of the shifter that has the chassis number on it: http://www.tennodai.com/~satoh/RS200...enF1_shift.jpg When you sat in that F1 did you happen to catch this number?

The nose of the F1 road car went through several revisions from intro to production. The ones you see with the center foglights are the earliest design. Those lights were scrapped in favor of extra cooling area in the nose.

The line you are seeing below those vents appears to be a piece of trim, and not an additional vent. I've often wondered about that as some cars have it and some don't.

The dark dot you are seeing is the location where the front plate mounts.

hmmm... interesting about the front nose pieces... I think with my reskin of the car, I'm going to the the chassis numbers of the individual colors I made/cars, and put the correct nose piece on.

and for the F1 LM, I also found a perfect backshot of the grill, and I've already hand made the right badges. I also made a black one, but I want to see a shot of the graphics so I can add that too. I don't know why, but when it comes to cars in computer games, I'm very picky about factory stock correctness.

here's a shot of the F1 LM. I would also like to make the XPLM, but would need a perfect shot of the side scoop, and any other differences between the XPLM and production LM. edit... changed the grille to the correct one... should work soon, uploading... assholes don't allow remote linking, copy and paste if you want to see it.

I've never found more helpful people on any other forum, thank you.

You won't find a shot of the graphics on the black LMs - photos of those cars do not exist.

Putting the correct nose piece on cars may prove difficult, along with making them the correct color. Take chassis #073 for instance. It began life as a standard F1 road car painted AMG Green Velvet. It is now a HDF Kitted road car (wears the wing and ground effects of a GTR/LM) and has been painted a unique shade of orange similar to that Yquem color.

Lots of cars get repainted or have additional options added at the time of ownership. Keeping track of that stuff is sometimes what keeps this forum so busy.

There should be a thread here outlining the differences between the customer LMs and XP1 LM - the changes are all very subtle.

I called Fox Valley Motorcars about that F1. The guy who knows the car (knows quite about that particular car in fact) was not in today... they told me to call back tomorrow, which I will do. So you guys'll find out tomorrow.

Oh, Btw, click the link below if you'd like to see two of the new colors in-game... I've finished them all, but I'm too lazy to take a bunch of screenshots right now.

I'd put a lot of money on the fact that Mr. T does not own that McLaren F1 or any McLaren for that matter. If I am proven wrong with valid evidence, then I shall wear the egg on my face proudly.

The original owners of that car - at least when it was first attempted to be imported a few years back were Tom Weiringa and Paul Cherry. They tried to sell the car through Fox Valley for a short period of time, even though it was not here legally, and eventually it was seized by customs. That's the last confirmed details we have on it.

= = = = =

Anyway, based on the shot you just posted, there are a few needed corrections if you want your model to have the final-production look.

First, the "eyebrows" on the panels above the headlights were only seen on the Clinic Model and the first roadcar prototype - 'XP1'.

Also, F1 road cars do not have vents over the front wheels like you will find on the GTRs or LMs.

It appears that the yellow car has both of those features. If you post some more angles of the cars, I can help you further with the details.
