More Damage from Rimrock

I was under my X today and noticed the lower shock mount (left rear) has been bent backwards and up. I'm guessing one of the many ruts we dropped into during the trip messed it up.

Anyway, the mount looks welded on, so removal could be a pain in the ass. So is this bad? What is it going to cost to fix?

Here's a pic.....

It's attached to the U-bolt for the leafs. Maybe Ian Firth has an extra one since he's replaced his spring pack.

We should be able to fix that ourselves.

If it's welded and you need to get it off, try using a die-grinder with a cutting wheel. You can get the cutting wheel at Home Depot for a couple of dollars. It's not as hard as you might think, and it doesn't destroy the metal around the weld. Although, if you can get the whole assembly from Ian, that would be easier

Interesting mod....
Actually, the only concern is that the mount is weakened, right? The angle of the shock (WRT the driving surface) hasn't been changed much & the shock mechanism is unaffected by rotation (circular symmetry) so I can't imagine that this is very detrimental to ride quality or in terms of suspension geometry.
Still, though, I can imagine if this happened to me I'd be anxious to fix it....

ToeJam--Both of mine are mildly tweaked (not quite that bad), and a fair number of the MAXC trucks have shock mounts just as f'd up as your is--so far no one has replaced or fixed it, as it's not really an issue until you need to replace your shocks (good thing many of us already have the rear shocks taken care of.)

Surprisingly, my shocks mounts are still fine but Will's passenger side looks exactly like that. As long as the shock still works properly I wouldn't worry too much about it - but if you have the oppurtunity to replace that whole piece, what the hell ...
