I have the same problem with my 99 grand am. It will clink until I turn the AC on and then you can hear a click and it will stop. I don't know what this is but it's irritating.
I heard another car (grand am) doing the same noise when it passed by me the other day. |

Re: A/c Noise after shut off
Is it a metal screeching sound,if so then you have the classic a/c clutch drag.you will need a a/c clutch puller tool to repair, the clutch has moved and needs to be backed out

Re: A/c Noise after shut off
Yes, it's definitely a metal screeching sound. I guess I will have to get my mechanic to fix it. I'm not mechanically inclined but I do know I've had more problems with my grand am than I've had with all my other cars combined and I've owned a lot of cars. Pathetic, eh?

i had the same probelm on my car, to solve it, teh cheapest and easiest way is to spray some WD-40 on teh a/c clutch, be sure you dont get any on the belt though! I did this and it solved the problem after about a mile of driving

Re: A/c Noise after shut off
I'm far from mechanically inclined so could you tell me where the A/C clutch is?
Thanks
