The new car Dealer and ME
Actually I had a great time buying my last 2 cars. The one I bought in 2003, an Impala 3.4L. Me and the dealer were sitting there going over what I would pay. He was sort of talking to himself as he added options and took discounts, then he got to near the end and he said something like " subtract $480 " and went on to the next line, then a few seconds later he said wait a minute something is not right, he said dog gone I took off $480 too much, he sat for a moment , then exclaimed " well I already told you I was taking that off so I will just have to give you the $480, I said make another $480 mistake and we have a deal.
My first new car ever, always had used, was in 1989, it was a 2.8L celebrity, the interior of the car reminded me of our familys 1971 Dodge dart, that I learned how to drive in. Anyway I had saved up 10k and my trade in covered the rest. Since I was writting a check for 10k I had to fill out a form as to where I got the money...2 good paying jobs, and then the walked the form over to a phone where they called the FBI. I went to about 4 dealerships before this one and everyone I almost started laughing, they are so entertaining...do not let them pressure you
I got tired of being pressured by the sales manager at a Toyota dealer and walked out, the sales guy that took me to him ran up, he was waiting outside for act 2, he said he knows how he can get a really good deal with out the sales manager...did I ever laught that day...apparently people fall for that stuff. The toyota dealer kept emailing me asking if I would buy a car I had to tell them 3 times before thet caught on I BOUGHT A N-E-W C-A-R A-L-R-E-A-D-Y I guess some people have to buy a car without being able to shop around, the main point to come away with is do not let them pressure you or make you feel bad " That they took time to show you cars"....walk out, that really gets them, turn the tables on them, instead of working down from a price, start at the base price and work up, confusse them tell them the other dealers you been too and you can only stay there and talk with them for another 1/2 hour because there is another 2 dealerships you want to stop by. IT'S YOUR MONEY
