99 sub. brakes scrub when making a slow stop?
When I am in stop and go traffic, after I stop then let off the brake to ez up it makes a scubbing sound like the brake pad is not moving back out to let the rotor turn. My brake pads are less than three months old and I had the rotors turned at that time too. Is this normal or what could it be? Thanks Autogunner.

99 sub brake scrub
When the calipers where taken off ,were the sliders checked to make sure they were not siezed? If not,I would take the calipers off and check the sliders before doing anything else.

Re: 99 sub. brakes scrub when making a slow stop?
You didn't happen to buy your brakes at pep boys. if so they are different than factory oem or napa pads. even though they say they are right the do not have the same curvature as the rotor. mine chewed into the hubs of the rotors and then wore out both calipers. if this is the case let me know.

what make model pad was installed? Were the old pads worn evenly between the inside and outside pads? Did the caliper pistons deperss back into the calipers without significant force with bleeders open?
Some pad material makes a grindling like sound that will get your attention. Sounds very concerning. With brake pads and rotors, I always recommend using high quality. Performance Friction Z Rated Carbon Metallic or 911 Extreme Performance (TRW) pads, especially on heavy vehicles. I have a 95 suburban K1500 with 80mm calipers instead of 60mm (80mm are used on 2500/3500 trucks - direct bolt on) loaded with Z rated pads. What a difference in stopping power! |
