question about tranny
Ok, Im sure you guys have heard this over and over again, but its bothering me. Ok so a lot of my friends with preludes has had problems with their transmission. I have a sport shift and i heard that my transmission will probably be messing up soon. I have about close to 9,000 miles on it.. i just need more information on this.. i dont know the complete story. I called the dealership and asked them if my warranty covers it. I told them i have an intake and everything and they said that might void the warranty, but what does the intake have anything to do with the transmission??? That just pissed me off.. i need some arguing advice on what to tell the dealership.. so PLEASE help me asap. its really bothering me.

i too have had this problem but with my accord, no the intake will not void your warranty, it is considered a luxury item, it doesn't effect the tranny at all, if they however say that it will, go get it swapped out for the airbox, and then get the tranny fixed, then swap the airbox back out for the intake, donn't worry though, it shouldn't void the warranty, at least they didn't with mine, tell me if u have ne more problems

Treat the tranny with some respect and it will last a good long time. If you plan to drag the car-then this is not the gearbox for you-at least in stock form. I'm doing track days and autox with no problems on my SS (27,000 miles). As to the warranty-there is NO reason why an intake would have anything to do with the tranny. If your dealer sells upgrade parts like mine does-they will tell you if there is an issue at the time of sale. My Honda dealer is selling modded NEW cars off the showroom floor and they have full Honda warranties so far as I know.
Have fun with your ride:flash: |

it is the responsibility of the car dealer to prove that the cause of any damage to the engine or whatever is directly linked to the aftermarket product for the warranty to be void. putting intake, exhaust or a header will not void the warranty. it's only void if those mods cause the particular problem. and they have to prove that.

I wouldn't worry too much about the SS transmission.

they will probably say that a CAI is a performance mod, and thus the car is being raced/ect..

I had my 5th gear replaced under warranty and I have I/H/E with a high flow cat. It all depends on how liberal the dealer is whether they give you a hard time, but they cannot denie your warranty claim unless a aftermarket part caused the problem. Plus in my case there is a known problem, and 5th is typically a "non-accelaration" gear. (unless you drive 150mph all the time)
