cold engine idle

Just purchased a 2004 tl w 6 sp. I live at 8500' in the mountains of colorado. I have noticed starting the engine when its cold the idle is not as smooth as it is when the engine is warm. I asked the dealer and they had no clue. The idle rpm stays steady, however the exhaust noice occasionally rumbles. Anyone else experiece this or has any suggestion?
