truck won't start
Happy Thanksgiving, but not for me.
My 2000 ranger, 5 speed, won't start. I was driving, and all of a sudden, the engine just stopped. Electrical works, engine turns over once or thrice, but it never actually turns on. Wires and belts all appear fine. Please help :-( |

Spark? Fuel?

Re: truck won't start
Full fuel tank. I'll check the spark plugs.
I'll check the battery too. But if it's the battery, why would it stop while driving, or can a manual do that? |

Re: truck won't start
And there is power for lights and radio, so I doubt it's the battery. Especially since it was on when it kicked. But experienced advice is appreciated.

Re: truck won't start
You need to check for spark at the plugs.
Try some starting fluid in the intake if you have spark. Need to narrow down between fuel or ignition issues.

Re: truck won't start
Its been a while and I wonder if you fixed it yet? The in tank fuel pump or the frame mounted one can cause it to quit like that. Of course other items can cause it to quit, but I found that most problems mainly cause poor running. I lately found that the ECU can get hot and cause problems and even cause it to quit period. Check my 02-24-2014 maintenance tips and especially the addition I just made to it. Like others have said posting back with results or no results, will help this forum work.
