4.3 v-6 to much fuel
I have a 1991 chevy Astro, with a 4.3 v-6 not vortec.
When I start the van cold it runs fine. But once it warms up the injectors just start pumping alot of fuel into the motor and it stalls (floods) out, then wont start again for a while, unless i unhook the injectors. I had a mechanic tell me I had to change the spark plugs because they were Champion. And Champion plugs wouldn't work in a GM, therefore not burning all the fuel . I didn't believe this but changed them anyway, switched to Bosch Platinum. I just changed the wires, cap , rotor, plugs and ICM. I'm also gettin alot of smoke from the exhaust (due to excessive fuel?). Thanks for any suggestions. Jeff |

Go back to ACDelco plugs, first. Do you have any codes coming up? It sounds as though you may have a sensor issue, but not sure what. Need more info first.

Yes problem is solved.
Plugged the van in to a computer and.... Coolant Temperature Sensor was the culprit. Thanks for the help !!! |

I can't believe that guy said your problem was champion plugs. LOL Any plug with enough use will wear out.
