2002 Mustang GT loses Idle!

Hello,

When I start my Mustang it starts up fine but then the car shuts off right away. If I keep giving it gas you can drive it but when I come to a stop the Car shuts off. Also the Check Engine light is on. Does anyone know what the problem can be? Thanks

MAP sensor, or MAF sesor I cant remeber which. Do you have to two foot it at a stop? Gas and brake to keep it going?

MAF. Could also be TPS or IAC. But that would cause more of a poor idle, not a no idle lol.

Re: 2002 Mustang GT loses Idle!

So I bet on IAC or MAF cause those are common problems with FORD.

Yes I have to two foot it or just put in in neutral and rev the gas before I put it in first and take off..

It is definatly MAF sensor, you should get it replaced. They are a constant problem in most 01-up Fords. If that doesnt fix it lemme know.

Re: 2002 Mustang GT loses Idle!

I honestly cant say for sure, so I am not going to quote you a price, but I will tell you this, it does not take long to do because its right up top and easy to get to. As for price of the part, I never got to do any yet so I dont know. If its over $400, its probably bogus though. Ask for a quote and get back with me.

Re: 2002 Mustang GT loses Idle!

The part probably costs a few hundred bucks. The labor is simple. More than likely there are just two hose clamps and a plug to take loose to remove it and then reinstall. But you may have to reset the computer and or clear all codes afterwards.
