Angry 97 Tj Sputters And Gauges Go Crazy

My 97 4 Cyl 5 Spd Tj Spits And Sputters Completely Out Of The Blue. While Its Doing This The Gauges All Go Crazy And The Check Engine Light Blinks But It Stores No Codes. If I Let It Just Idles It Sometimes Stalls And Sometimes Doesnt But It Always Fires Right Back Up Until Today Where It Took A Good 30 Seconds To Start. While Its Doing All This It Stinks Like Rotten Eggs. I Already Went Ahead And Did The Smart Thing And Replaced The Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor And Throttle Position Sensor. Nothing. I Can Drive The Truck At 75mph For A Hundred Miles And It Will Be Fine, But Then I Go To The Store A Mile Down The Road And It Throws A Fit. Sometimes When I Push In The Clutch And Rev It Its Ok, But As Soon As I Put It Back In Gear It Starts Doin It Again. What Gives?

Re: 97 Tj Sputters And Gauges Go Crazy

I really hope that someone can help you with your problem as I have the same problem with my 97 4cyl 5sp. Driving down the road at about 30mph slowing for a stop and the guages and engine went dead then back on then stalled. Hard to start then smelled bad and idled very rough. Made it home but it still wanted to die while at an idle. It acted like it was losing a ground or something electrical. Also I have been having the problem that I have seen listed heer with my oil pressure guage going to 0 PSI. I have changed the sending unit but it still does it while idling while hot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 97 Tj Sputters And Gauges Go Crazy

I talked to a mechanic today about this problem. He said to check out the battery as it could be going bad. It is not that old but I guess that it is a possibility as it did seem like it lost a ground or something. Haven't had time to check it out yet but will let you know.
