91 Accord SE - Are they pretty rare?
Seems almost evryone has an LX or DX or EX or whatever. The 91 SE has antilock brakes, 4 wheel disc and an extra 10 (140 verses 130) ponies. Also all leather interior.
In the process of buying my neighbors now. |

They do seem pretty rare. I got my 91 SE from a family friend a few months back (needed a fair bit of work to make it roadworthy). Since I've been driving it I have never seen another SE model, nor another Accord of that vintage with leather seats. Sweet car though.

From what i understand...at least in 5th gen...the SE models were just clever ways for honda to sell more LX's...they just threw leather and a couple of other options on an LX and sold it as an SE

Re: 91 Accord SE - Are they pretty rare?
No... 91 SE's are not rare. They are just very Luxurious you know with the leather, moonroof, better sound system, better motor. The SE's usually are out when that type of Generation is ending and the new models are coming for the following year. They want to end with a bang. Like for the '93 Accord SE, Honda throw the door out the window on this one, even added a new special color. Then in 94 the 5th gen of Accords came.

I thought I read somewhere that the older SE models also includes a lower rear end ratio to add a little sport to the SE label.

My 94 4 runner has the same thing. I only use it when towing my motocross bike (Honda CRF 450) with trailer. Helps a bit. |

Actually, Huffa, I paid $5 for it (and that's $5 Canadian). The former owners were ready to have it towed to a scrapyard because their dealership told them it would cost at least $5000 to make it roadworthy again. My dad and I, doing most of the labour, spent about $2000 all told on it, which was still a pretty sweet deal, considering the car.
A lot of dealership mechanics hate working on older cars, particularly here up north where the road salt causes horrendous amounts of rust. Lots of hammer and torch work to free up bolts. |

5.00, now thats a good deal! Your right in the ballpark of what their worth (little more, little less) with the $$ you put into it.
What all did you do? What color is it? I got the silver one with black leather. This one for $1300 (easily worth 2-$2500 I'll bet) is really sweet. I do believe?? it might need F& R motor mounts because of engine shake at idle and for sure an oil pan gasket. You done either of these on yours? |

Sounds like are cars are twins, Huffa. Silver with black leather interior. Oil pan and engine mounts were fine. Had to fix a major link in the power steering unit, replace most of the muffler (and the catalytic converter), fitted a new fuel tank and a fair section of the fuel lines, replaced the broken off light stalk, some work on the front suspension, replaced the shifter link cable, and went through lots of tranny fluid changes (doesn't look like this had ever been done). Body just has minimal rust in the usual Accord spots, and just ticked over 200,000km.

Gaffer
You got the identical car! Cool! What's all this I keep reading to ONLY use Honda trans oil? Usually in manuals it says that or an equivialint. What kind did you use? I'll bet mine was never changed either. So easy, yet alot don't do! It's ashame! |

For the first change we did use the (very expensive) Honda fluid, but since then we switched over to Dextron III. We spoke to a Honda technician who said it would be fine. You do need to beware of the power steering fluid though, that has to be from Honda, or a brand designed specifically for Hondas (we found a cheap brand made by Bardahl).

Re: 91 Accord SE - Are they pretty rare?
Thanks!!
Those motorized seat belts are strange...a real pain but I'm sure I'll get used to them. I read the raido is upgraded from stock ones on here. Is that true? If so, in what way? |

Ah - well there's something different about our cars. No motorized seatbelts in mine. Heated seats, yes, but the belts are fully manual.
My manual does cover the differences in the various models of stereo system for each model of 91 Accord, but I can't recall them at the moment. |
