Altima 93 no Start.Kindly help.

I have a nissan altima 93(132K) and it just died while i was driving it from work.
It does not start although the ignition is clean(i.e the seems like there is no gas but i have enough).
my intial guess was the fuel pump but i hard wired it and sure enough it does pump fuel.
I was told that one of the reasons why it would not start is because the timing chain is bad and/or the distributor was not working.
Any suggestions on how go about fixing it would be highly appreciated.

Does it have spark ? Usually the distributer on your car. I have one for a late model if interested . You wont have any spark or Injector pulse if the dist is out .
