92 integra Grinding when down shifting to 1st Need HELP!!!!!

I finanaly got my teg back on the road after doing brakes, shocks, and cv's and now like 2 days after i can downshift into 1st or it makes this terrible grinding noise. my dad said that it is prob the synchros but i really dont know anything about trannys

your help would be greatly appreciated and if it is the synchros would it be worth it to replace them or do a tranny swap or just leave it alone and not shift into 1st when down shifting

thanx
Drew

Hmm never really had to downshift to first 2nd is usually good enough for everyday driving, but yea it does sound like the synchro's are going...weird though since most seem to have trouble with 3rd gear but replacing them isn't that easy of a task you need to take the tranny out and if it does turn out to be that much work you might as well just swap in a used tranny.

why r u downshifting into first? I only shift down to 1st when im at a complete stop or if im going less than 10 mph.

If ur going like around 20 mph or faster and ur in 2nd gear, it will be pretty hard (but do-able) to shift down to 1st gear. maybe your forcing it into 1st and thats causing the grinding. I dont know man. sorry i aint too much help.
but i think that swapping out the whole tranny is cheaper instead of ripping apart the old tranny and replacing the synchros

Your prolly trying to downshift at to high of rpms. You wont be able to downshift when the rpms are to high for that gear. If thats not the case check your slave cyl. That happened to me when my slave was going out. But yeah I wouldnt downshift into first ever.

agree with boostedK20, much cheaper to swap. i have to replace my tranny and found out that it would cost approx $1k to fix the tranny and i found the same tranny with 104k miles on it for $250. and this one is from an ls four door. so i know it was not ragged.
