What clear coat?

I've tried using future, and I find that it is a pain to use, more than a help. I know it's not exactly bulletproof, and I have trouble spraying it on in even coats. So, although I'm still going to use it as a dullcoat (which works great by the way, if you mix it with windex and x-21 tamiya flat base correctly.) I'd like to know what clear coats you guys have used with good results!

Thanks!

Re: What clear coat?

Turbo,
I mostly use DupliColor. However, you have to be careful what you spray it over. If you spray it over an enamel color, you will have a disaster. If you spray it over Duplicolor laquer, the results are beautiful.
I have used Tamiya clear, but only over other Tamiya colors. I`m not sure how it turns out over other enamels/laquers. As is well known, with Tamiya clear you have to either spray it on immediately after the color, or wait for the color to fully cure (2-4 weeks at least!!!). That is the main reason I avoid Tamiya when I can.
This model was done with all Duplicolor laquers, including about 10-12 coats of clear:

Re: What clear coat?

Any automotive two parts epoxy clear is a right choice!!!
I use PPG epoxy urethane clear and I've used over acrylics, enamels and laquer without any problem!!!

Re: What clear coat?

Do you airbrush that, or is it a spray?, it says two part, but I'm not sure..

Re: What clear coat?

ppg is 2-part, you have to mix in a hardner. and you need an airbrush to apply it, plus that clear can get expensive

Re: What clear coat?

Do you guys who use two part urethane clear have any trouble cleaning it out of your airbrush? Or does it clean up with automotive lacquer even when it has hardened?
