motor starter problem

I drive a standard transmission, and recently the starter went out on my car. I have an automatic transmission of the same year and make of the car in the backyard for parts, can I change the starter from the automatic to the standard and it work? I think I should be able to but I want your input first......thanks

Re: motor starter problem

It should. I imagine they used the same starters on both auto and manual trans (same flywheel and flex plate sizes).
But to be sure, I would compare the nose reach/position and compare the teeth on the starter gears.
