1997 Eagle Talon Engine

Hey guys, umm I'm pretty car stupid at this point, but I'm gonna get started in my dad's shop so hopefully I can learn some more about this stuff, my question is this, I'm looking into either a 1997 or 1998 eagle talon, but I'm thinking about replacing the engine with a 3.0L DOHC v6 engine, like that of the mitsubishi 3000GT's. My questions are #1 would it fit inside the eagle, and 2 would it make it any faster? Or would this engine be appropriate? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6755
The reason I was thinking of a new engine is becuase the 3000GT's DOHC has 222 HP, and gets 19/24 city to highway milage, while the talon's turbo charged engine gets like 17/22 or somthing? and the Hp=210 so I've read, okay thanks for all of your help!

Re: 1997 Eagle Talon Engine

Well, you could do it but why? (aside from how silly it is)

What motor do you have in it right now/ What are your goals? Whats your budget?

Try being more indepth.

It will help us.

Re: 1997 Eagle Talon Engine

Hmm well I mean the major reasons would be to get the 222 HP and better gas milage than the Talson Tsi.

Re: 1997 Eagle Talon Engine

You take one or the other.

Gas milage or HP.

Which one do you care more about?

Re: 1997 Eagle Talon Engine

get the TSI... with cheap mods you will be faster than the 3000GT and you will also save a lot of money, for less than $2000 you can easily be into the 12s!

that crap v6 will only get good gas milage if you shift at the perfect gas mileage point everytime[it most likely only gets those MPGs listed from low end torque and being able to sit low in the rpm band, lower than the talon....dont forget that gearing also plays a big role in gas mileage, better check that out too]........as soon as you push, that engine, your gas mileage will = nothing. Not to mention the talon can get EASILY over 222hp without much work at all, and only a few hundred in mods.

Gains from mods are always greater with factory turbo charged engines over N/A'd engines, not to mention the internals on the 4g63 are far greater.
