Looking to buy mid 90's hardbody

My wife just bought her new Sentra SE-R (sunburst). After driving it I am totally sold on Nissan quality. I've been looking for a mini truck for some time, and I've started looking at the mid 90's Hardbody (2 wheel drive, X-cab) Eventually, I want it to keep up with the SE-R, but that's not a big deal right now.Could somebody tell me some common problems with these trucks and what to look for in a used one.

Thumbs up

I have had a 861/2 and I'm currently driving a 92 Hard body. The 86 had 500,000 miles on it when it was retired. The only problem that jumps out at you with that year was the body went bad with rust(Michigan salted roads winters). My deduction is that the factory undercoating isn't the greatest. The 92 has 250,000 on it. The underbody has been ZBarted and it has a sprayed in bed liner and not a spot of rust on it. The only problem I've had with it is the instrument panel/tail light switch in the steering column went out. That's it. Take care on them and they'll take care of you.

i have a friend that swore by hardbodies. He had a 1990, which he swears to be the fastest year that nissan made ,and i've never seen a vehicle be put through so much hell in all of my life and keep on going without slacking off at all. he finally sold it to his cousin, which has taken up the family tradition of putting the truck through its paces and it is still going strong with nearly 300,000 miles.

I 2nd that "emotion". I too had a '90 hard body and that truck just flat out blew away pretty much anything stock for the 1st 1/8 of a mile. Probably the best out of the 3 I've owned.

I am currently in my 3rd nissan truck. It's a '96 XE extended cab and is a great truck. I'm affraid that I will no longer be purchasing the nissan truck after this model because I'm a big guy and I'm just not comfortable in the Frontiers and the Titans are gas hawgs.
