a/c is only coming through the defrost!
Hi, newbie here... trying to get some feedback on what to do with my a/c. One day I hit a bump on the road while accelerating, and since that day, my a/c only comes through the defrost. It's cool air... a friend said maybe a duct came loose? I'm clueless when it comes to a/c, but can peter around a car pretty well... Some suggestions on how I can fix it myself... Or should I even try?
Thanks much-o! Candicekay |

You probably knocked loose one of the vacuum lines for the vent control settings.

I have the same problem only my A/c comes out the defrost and the floor vents only and my cruise control stopped working at the same time. I'm still trying to trace all my vacuum lines myself. I've been told on here the vacuum lines run under the battery, under the coolant reservoir, and out from the vacuum ball under and forward of the drivers side front wheel well. That's where I found one break in my line but when I fixed it it did not fix the problem. The lines are smooth, black and about 1/8" in diameter...Good luck.

2000 3.1 with same problem. Only get A/C from defrost and floor. I can't seem to identify the vacuum lines. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: a/c is only coming through the defrost!
ok this is where they start look at ur intake, right above it there are two little hoses, and i mean litte. there is a third one on there also it is a tad bit bigger .. ok two lil ones go under the intake manafold and the other goes to a sensor. now one goes to a round thing under the manifold and then splits out to ur map sensor, and the other goes to ur cruise control and ac that is the one u need to follow around the car it goes from there to the cruise control and then to vacuum ball

Re: a/c is only coming through the defrost!
now since were on the subject of vacuum lines i have a bit of a bigger problem, my car runs a lil ruff with the vacumm line that runs to the cruise control connected, i mean real ruff its like it wants to stall. but it keeps idleing back up now, i am thinking the idle air sensor cause i disconnected that line and it works fine.. Now i thought there might be a clog in one of the lines but i have no clue they all seem fine to me.. so now i have a hissing sound under the hood cause i had to disconnect the one hose.. So if neway has an idea whats going plz tell...

Re: a/c is only coming through the defrost!
I had the same problem (a/c blowing from defrost & floor). Finally I got pissed and grabbed my air compressor, set it to 140p.s.i. and shot directly into the a/c vents. About 10 seconds passed and it started blowing hard and cold, like it was when I first bought it.
