burnout - newbie here

Hi, I'm new here and I just bought a 89 firebird 2.8L v6 automatic for $1500 canadian (rust free).
I'm just wondering if there is anything I can upgrade that would give a little bit more power or torque without switching to a v8. Also is it possible to do a burnout with a stock 2.8L v6? The main reason why I don't want a v8 in there is becuase I'm 16 and insurance is alreasdy bad enough.

Thanks for all the help

Re: burnout - newbie here

well, hate to crash your world around you but the 2.8 is notorious for being a horrible power plant. i have never seen aftermarket parts for it, but im sure they exist- somewhere. unfortunately, you are not going to be going fast anytime soon. what you could do is go out and get either a 3.1 or 3.4 v-6 and put that in. they are the same block, just bored and stroked to get higher displacements.

as for the burnout: if you have a manual, put the car in first gear with the clutch down, rev it up nice and high, and pop the clutch up to engage it and watch her fly. if you have an auto, put the car in drive, hold the brake with your left foot, press the gas with your right foot, and watch her fly...

yea, i tryed looking around for parts also but I didn't find anything yet either. Thanks for all the info tho. I'll look into getting a bigger engine i guess. As far as the burnout goes will the 2.8 v6 actually do it? I do have an automatic.

Well thanks alot.
