Supercharge or All motor?

I've been thinking, is there a difference between a (roots)supercharged engine and an all motor engine? Both have power on the go, both have power all throughout the RPM range, and the only difference is the latter cost more to upgrade. If I just slapped on a s/c engine on a car and have a similar car with a similar engine and with similar horsepower, if you were to drive these 2 cars, could you ever tell that the first car was supercharged?

Re: Supercharge or All motor?

If nothing else, there'd be a cool S/C whine from under the hood...

Well except for that, that's just noise.

Re: Supercharge or All motor?

lol...I know. Probably have a bit different torque curve...maybe a little different as far as the 'seat of the pants' test goes, but that's probably about it.

Also, contrary to popular belief, some superchargers do have a little 'lag'...superchargers don't produce full boost at idle. Take that into account, too. In general, it's just no where near as much lag as turbos. I have seen turbos that produce boost at idle...believe it or not...that was pretty cool.

Re: Supercharge or All motor?

an all motor engine producing as much power as a supercharged engine is alot harder to make. Also, in many cases, it will put more strain on the engine than a supercharger. on the upside, you will probably get more respect making an all motor powerhouse.

Then I guess it's not "too good to be true".
