94 jc won't start
My 94 gc cranks but won't start. The only trouble code retrieved from he computer is 55. There in no spark at the plugs, but there is spark at the coil. The computer has been tested and it appears okay. I've replaced the cap and rotor with the same results. I think that the timing is off. Any Ideas??????!!!!!!!

Re: 94 jc won't start
your getting spark from the coil, so the only issue is delivery. remove the distributor cap, is the rotor moving when the engine is cranked? if so replace the cap rotor and wires, most of the time this problem is caused by washing the engine or running thru a puddle of water, and the igniton gets wet. once a carbon trail is formed by the spark, it is unlikely that you will ever be able to intrupt it by cleaning it. if this doesn't fix it, the timing chain may have jumped (cam crank timing issue, back fires in intake or exhast). otherwise (if its not turning) the cam shaft could be broken, the pin that holds the gear on the distributor shaft could be gone or......an alien stole your camshaft.....

I changed the cam sensor (stator) and have the same problem spark at the coil but not at the plugs. I checked the timing chain and it has not slipped. I have changed the crank sensor about 5,000 miles ago. I'm not sure what to check next.

Re: 94 jc won't start
Agian it is a delivey issue, the only thing left is to get the spark from the coil to the distributor cap across the rotor and back to the rotor cap, then down the wire to the plug. the only things left if the rotor is turning, is the coil wire, the distibutor cap and the rotor. Nothing else can cause the problem.
In the dark, crank the engine, look at the coil, wires and cap, are there sparks? that where the problen is. |

Re: 94 jc won't start
I dont see wires among the things you changed. you say you have spark at the coil.. its not running down the side of the coil to one of the terminals is it? if so repalce your wires and the coil, the wires causing the bad trail and the coil bad from the wires.

Okay now the coil is producing no spark, or an occasional weak spark. Sometimes it still works fine. I accidentally grabbed one of the spark plug wires and got zapped. I thought this was unusual because I there is no visible spark. WHATS GOING ON?

Re: 94 jc won't start
The spark would never reach over an 1/4 of an inch

Re: 94 jc won't start
Yes I've changed plug wires- could it be the coil?
