Quiet Performance Muffler?

Does anybody know of a performance muffler that is nearly as quiet as the stock muffler on my 98 HX? Will a higher flowing muffler adversly effect the great gas mileage that these cars get? I bought the car for the mileage, I am just looking for a little extra power without going crazy on it with the mods. Thanks for helping me, I am new to import performance. 15 years of Chevy's and Mopars, this is a different( and fun) world.

Re: Quiet Performance Muffler?

RS*R exmag, Apex Worldsport are probably the quietest on the market. Do a search and you'll come up with a post that has sound clips and movies of both these exhausts.

A buddy of mine has a mugen one (the one with the muffler piping is all curved around and sh*t) and it's still pretty loud.

Re: Quiet Performance Muffler?

in theory, with basic I/H/E you should get better mileage because essentially your burning more of your fuel and not wasting it. Hasn't been proven yet though. Why don't you do the test and report back?

Re: Quiet Performance Muffler?

Quiet exhaust cans, the apex world sport is quiet. my buddy has one on a 95 b18c coupe. its amasing, around town 10 to 40 mph = its quiet and perfect / seems like stock. vtec kicks in or you floor it on the highway = it screams but not as loud and obnixous as the fart cans.
greddy also has one, but the apex is the most silent performance i've seen/heard in person. the greddy is pretty good, but can and does get a litte loud/bassie
