Cool Free Replacement Of Manifold

If your X is registered in California, you can take advantage of a State Law that all emission related parts on the car have an extended warranty of 80,000 mi. You do not have to have purchased extended warranty, it's an auotmatic warranty mandated by the State, and the manifold falls under this rule, along with the cat. converter, etc.

Just take the car to the dealer and SPECIFY TO THE DEALER THAT YOUR CAR HAS A CRACKED MANIFOLD THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED.

I got mine replaced for free!

Actually, CA is 70,000 miles according to my warranty booklet. Rest is 80,000. Go figure.

If your vehicle is still registered with DMV California you may still have the opportunity to get the parts you need. This may fall under the "Soldier and Sailors Act", check with legal.

Re: Free Replacement Of Manifold

I had to get the tranny lockplate recall done in Germany while stationed there about two years ago. I was lucky that my wife is German. We went to the local Nissan dealer in Mannheim and they all came out and looked at my Xterra. That was a bad sign since they had never seen one before. Anyways, my wife translated the recall letter to them and there was two courses of action. 1) Pay the dealer install it and get reimbursed by Nissan or 2) Call Nissan USA and explain the situation and have them ship the part to Germany and have the German dealer send the bill to Nissan USA. I did option two and had no problems.
Incidentally, my wife took the Xterra in to the dealer in January to get the wheels replaced under the recall for those and they reapplied the transmission lock plate since there was no record of it being done before in the US. So it was done twice.
