My 92 Bose Gold CD player inop... advise?
I just purchased my 1992 Vette and the CD player is inop and 1/2 of the display won't light up. What I am asking is I want to have it fixed and I know where to send it to get fixed but what I want to know is when it is fixed will it play burned CDs cause I have never had this CD player working so I need to know if I am going to replace it with an aftermarket or fix it. I want to have it fixed and keep it factory cause it sounds good and if I park with the top off nobody will steal it cause its factory. But on the other hand if it won't play burned CDRs then I will want to replace it with aftermarket.
Does anybody know if the Bose Gold will play burned CDRs? ANY ADVISE WOULD BE HELPFUL. |

My answer is yes, it will... but that cdplayer is WEAK compaired to what you can get cheaply now. I understand that you dont want it getting stolen but put in a proximity caralarm and you wont have to worry about it.

The answer is yes it WILL play burned CDs? Another reason I am hesitant to put an aftermarket system in it is I think each speaker has it own amp on it.... isn't that a big hassle to change out to aftermarket? |

I bought a 93 about a year ago with a "good" Bose system. I replaced it with an aftermarket soon after I bought it, best thing I have done. You will have to modify speaker boxes, buy the dash kit so the new stereo looks good and run new wire to all the speakers, but it is worth it. I kept all my original stuff just because it's a Vet, but doubt anyone would want to reinstall.
