Question making carbon fiber

ok, i've been searching search engines all night and havent found any info, does anyone know how the hell to make carbon fiber parts? the reason i'm asking is cuz i wanna start trying to do my own thing with CF. when i do my custom enclosure i wanna lay it all out with CF instead of fiberglass, or use fiberglass and 1 layer of CF over top to give it that nice look, how would i go about this??

http://www.fiberglast.com

It is layed the same as fibertglass, I would recomend a vinyl resin as opposed to epoxy resin because of the color, you want a clear resin so that the carbon shows in all its brilliance. That site above is a good place to buy it and the resin, also has some tips on how to mix resins and set time.

Re: making carbon fiber

Depends on where your at, I'v never been able to find it where I live. Best place to look would be an aircraft repair type of shop. Around 40-50 a yard is the cheepest your going to find anywhere. By normal fiberglass resin I'm assuming your talking about like the Bondo brand resin that you buy at autozone ect. This is an epoxy resin that is a brownish color and it will work, however the white part of the carbon fiber will also be a brown color. Its best to use a clear resin (believe its vinyl ester, I can look it up if you want to know).
