can you believe this
the wire i fixed on the starter now when the car is running the wire glows red hot and starts to smoke and burn. i dont know exactly what wire it is. all i know is when i hooked it back up, the fuel pump primed (which is the problem i had before, it wouldnt) and the engine started fine. but now it glows red hot and if i keep it that way it will just melt and break again. any suguestions on where and what the wire is? it connects on the right side (as your looking at the engine from the front) and the block it connects to is round and has a bunch of wires connected to it. i keep saying starter but it might be a relay or something like that. let me know. thanks.

Did u replace the entire wire? If so or even if you didnt, I think you may need a new and larger gauge wire. I'd be willing to bet that(if you did use the old wire over) it's corroded as hell inside the covering. My suggestion: Get some new wire from the hardware store, perhaps a larger gauge, and then see what happens!

From what you described, it sounds like a wire off the power distribution block on the drivers side inner fender. There are a bunch of wires off there, do you know where it goes to? A picture would also be great.

i think he's referring to the starter relay... i can't think of why it would constantly carry current tho...

Not sure where that one wire goes to. Trace it and find what's on the other end of it. It could be just as simple as replacing the wire with a newer, thicker gauge wire.
