3000gt Help

OK...i am interested in buying a 1991 VR-4. It has 90,000 on the chasis. He said that he went into a puddle - locked the engine and bent a rod. So he says....
But he put new
new engine
bigger pistons
new clutch
front brakes with cross-drilled rotors
new plug wires
iridium plugs

The only downside of this car is that it smokes everytime it starts up (its starts up everytime).

He says that it might be the turbo seals - never replaced when car was overhauled.

So your probably wondering when i am going to get to the point. Well i was wondering if anyone has seen that smoking b4. I really want the car but i have to convince my dad that it is worthwhile. Can anyone tell me what could be the matter with this car? THANKS!

Re: 3000gt Help

Typically white smoke means coolant and/or water being vaporized in the combustion chamber

Possible causes:
Engine too cold (no repair needed)
Head gasket leaking
Cracked block or cylinder head

Keep in mind there could be another cause...these aren't the only possible 3.

I took this from:
http://www.baaqmd.gov/pio/smoking_vehicle_program.asp

Also welcome to AF, but please try not to bring 4 month old threads back to life. Thanks

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
