The factory amp sucks ass. I have a sony MD head unit, and I am running all Boston speakers on the inside, running off the head unit amp. The factory amp doesn't give you enough treble. To bypass the factory amp, you will have to run new speaker wires from your new headunit, straight into the speakers. This will probably take you about a couple hours to do, but it is totally worth it. The factory amp is located under the rear seat, and you will have to take out the rear seat in order to install the rear deck speakers. I can talk about this shit for hours, so please e-mail me or IM me (Sonyisdope2) if you have any questions about doing this.
If you are going to do this, plan on two things. a. It is a pain in the ass. b. It probably won't work right the first time you do it. |

High Powered after market head Unit ( at least 2.0 volts not watts) running to stock amps and replace stocks speaker with new stock speakers. Cheap and souns as good as The head Unit .. I got Rockford Fosgate CD Head Unit and replaced my 8 year olsd speaker ( all for 120 bucks from TJ Scottsdale Infiniti) sounds great ...

http://www.geocities.com/iplayover/playstation.jpg http://www.geocities.com/iplayover/g20.jpg Here's a tip, ditch your factory stereo, get some aftermarket deck- whichever you prefer (i went with alpine) and bypass the factory amplifier (located near the power antenna motor behind the rear right fender). Run your power wires to the back on one side, run your rca/speaker wires on the other (so no interference and whining sounds when u rev your engine) and there u go. the stock deck is pretty easy, unscrew 4 screws, pull off the plate. (be sure to unclip the heater/hazard buttons) and pull off. unscrew deck- pull out, undo- and pick up an adapter from your local best buy or something- (i went to the back where the install guy just gave it to me for free) you want this adapter just in case you sell the car and wanna keep the deck. here u can see- heheheehhe... ummmmmm- a playstation is installed. stats: deck- alpine cva-1000 and 12 disc changer crossover- DEI 4000 speakers- 4x6 polk / pioneer 6.5s / 2 10'' mtx subs (they're old... back when mtx made decent subs) amps- rockford fosgate punch 100.2 (250 actual watts rms?) and 240.4 (70 actual watts rms?) I'm not too sure about the wattage, rockford always underrates their amps. it's fun to drive 90mph and not hear the wind even though the windows and sunroof are open... heheheheh... !~~~~G20-1993~~~~~!
