Starting Motor Replacement on 85 V8
I want to hlep my son replace a starting motor on his 85 Mustang -- V8 with standard 5 speed. I have replaced many starting motors but never on a Mustang. Is it easy to get to? Will have to remove exhaust, braces, etc to do the job? In other words, how straight forward will this job be?

Shouldnt be too hard. Dont remember if they are 2 or 3 bolt starters. But it should be a pretty quick job. Just make sure you disconnect the battery.

Re: Starting Motor Replacement on 85 V8
Good reminder on the battery. I bought the starter last night -- two bolts -- and put the car up on blocks. It looks like the hard part will be working on the top bolt because I can't see it.
I think I'm ready for some Saturday fun! |

A 3/8" ratchet and probably 14mm or 15mm socket not sure should be all you need.
