Why do you guys like your mustangs?

I have always owned imports, but have always loved mustangs. I remember the first SVO I heard trucking down the highway by my house. How much do you guys think I would be looking at for a pristine SVO? I heard that there is a big difference between the years, my question is-Which year is the best value? Does the aftermarket have parts availible(turbo parts etc)

PS. I am sorry about previous thread, did not realize how hot the war is between yall. If you don't know what I am talking about that is ok

interesting title for this thread...

anyway, for a 'pristine' SVO, you'd be looking at quite a bit. saw one on ebay yesterday that had been completely restored with a bigger turbo and intercooler. i think the bidding was at 15 large or soemthing like that. get on ebay motors and look up 'svo mustang'

to answer your question in the title, i like my stang because it's light, i love the way the front end looks, and i love how easy it is to work with it, how flexible it is. there's also the fact that i see the Mustang as an american tradition. call it my way of being patriotic.

and for the record, i have nothing against any car as long as it's fast and doesn't look ugly.

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

I don't have one, but I drive them a lot. The power a GT puts out is great. I also noticed a lot of aftermarket for this car (a lot)

^like he said AMERICAN^

Well sense you put it like that. I don't know much about SVO's so Ill leave that to the others to tell you about them.

As far as why I like my stang. Well I've owned both Camaros and Trans ams and I don't knock you it thats what you choose. I've modded both, and I have had lots more fun with my stang. Stangs IMO seem just seem to respond better to mods. And frankly I think there built better.

There is no limit to the parts and options available to modify your stang.

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

I do not know that much about the SVO either, but i can tell you why i love my stang. I bought it for 350.00, put a used tire on it and a new battery and now i have a 5 spd V-8 that is street legal and reliable. I have owned a few different cars, but this is my first V8. All i have to say is TOURQE!!! That is why i love it.

i think mustangs look really good, for one thing. also, the aftermarket for mustangs is awesome. it's a great car for people who want a custom vehicle. i've got a V6, it's not a speed demon but it can be made into one. also, they're american made and by buying/owning one your supporting the american an economy, not to mention owning an icon of sorts. they're fun to drive, not expensive, good looking, and fast. what else do you want?

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

Do you guys know about how the svo stack up to a gt in reliability? I have never had anything go wrong on my honda, but I expect to have a few issues with an 80's mustang. anything I should watch out for?

This car has 71000 miles and has been fully rebuilt. he wants $7900 for it. That seems pretty reasonable to me, what do you guys think?

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

I just got my Stang like 2 months ago, I am so glad I got this car, it's pretty powerful considering it's only a stock V8, it looks like a muscled fist smacking the road, the HID's on this car look beautiful, and like other guys have said, the mods that can be done are almost endless

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

I love my stang, got a 98 gt, originally was looking at a 93 gt hatchback, but my wife didn't like the body style, so since it's my "family car", (I can fit 2 child seats in it), I went with the 98. I refuse to drive my 96 v6 tbird anymore, just don't feel right in it, so I gave it to the wife.

It looks pretty good. If it drives as well as it looks that price doesn't sound too bad. Find out who did the work.

I have 3 - 5 liter Mustangs . A 90 LX, 95 GT and an 02 GT. Just starting to redo the 90.

I paid $6000 in 1996 for the 1990 LX. It had 86,000 miles when I bought it. I put about 2k in repairs over the last 8 years and the car is still worth 4-5000. I have driven this bone stock LX (5.0 HO) for 8 years now. Cost of ownership ....$3000 for 6 years. That's $500 a year. You CANNOT beat that unless you have maybe a Volvo or Honda that is twenty years old. .....which there is NO way to drive and look cool. This car will SMOKE almost any stock car out there. ......AND it has 235,000 miles on it. THAT is why I love my mustang and have purchased 2 more over the years.

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

ya, I could be wrong but I don't know of any mustang (factory) being produced with a 5.0L V8. The new V8 from 96 on for the GT has been the SOHC 281 4.6L V8. If I am wrong I would like to know however.

Re: Why do you guys like your mustangs?

Oh ya, almost forgot I like my mustangs because...
the 1995 GT for being the last of the 5.0L produced to date and the sleek look, and the 1968 fastback because it is freakin gorgeous, and there is plenty of room to drop in a Big Block!

LONG LIVE AMERICAN PRIDE!!!!!

No, my screw up. The 02 is a 4.6, I was thinking V-8 more than 5.0. But you got the friggin point.... NO V-6's. IF you take care of these cars you will get good value for the dollar and they are more fun than most cars to drive. And the aftermarket parts are abundant.
