I'm back with PICTS--B18C swap & Dynamat
Hallo all: Well the swap is done and it's doing well, you gotta excuse the poor quality of some of the picts, but my old great dane passed a week ago from bone cancer and time for the photos with the car hasn't been a priority. You can check out the engine (B18C JDM ITR yr 2000 w/ 14,000km) and some picts of the Tien Flex coil overs and also the massive Dynamat covering I did...comments, criticisms, "who gives a f***'s", whatever you want.
Thanks again to all (Ricochet, PF, Jas M, Beastie, CivicSiracer, MexSir, etc etc) that have helped me out along the way to putting this thing together, very much appreciated. new engine: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/579824/5 the Dynamat: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/579824/7 finally have decent tails: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/579824/4 Any chi-town people gonna do qtr miles this summer/fall??? |

Congrats on the swap, and sorry to hear about your dog too. My Akita male has intestinal cancer, so i can definitely sympathize with you on that.
I'm not doing any runs this summer. My car is bone stock, so there's really no point. I'm planning on doing the ITR swap over the winter or in the spring, if i don't just end up buying a new car that is. But if i do end up swapping, i'll definitely be at the track to see what kind of times i can run. Last edited by Jas_M; 07-12-2004 at 02:23 AM. |

Re: I'm back with PICTS--B18C swap & Dynamat
the ITR engine itself was $5200 installed, but the money-eater was the suspension system and other upgrades....
btw, i don't have those tails on there anymore with the metal mesh...i've got plain red and clears that are tinted dark.... jas m....sorry to hear about yer dog....i gotta tell you it was the hardest thing i've been through putting my girl down....i raised her from 6 weeks old to 7 years....i wish you and yer dog the best in dealing with cancer... |

Looks great congratulations man. Planning on racing it on a track soon? So you can post some timeslips, I bet its going to be pretty fast, s2000 fast or more...
How fast does it feel compared to the whooping 106 hp engine? hahah...I bet its rocket fast.

Re: I'm back with PICTS--B18C swap & Dynamat
yeah, i plan on getting to the track soon...compared to the ole 106hp engine, this thing is SCARY!!!...i've squeeled the tires off the line, going into 2nd gear, going into 3rd gear and even going into 4th gear...got her up to 135-140 or so before the rev limiter kicked in (somewhere on a deserted piece of I-90 in Indiana--racing a Teggy)...and i'm guessing it's doing 0-60 in the mid-5's (anyone know solid numbers on this set-up for 0-60???)
ALSO, the cornering is amazing....i have yet to find out what speed it takes to make her slip...for chi-town people--I hit the S-curve on lake shire drive at 60mph northbound and southbound and no skidding whatsoever (also no cars, so i was free to ignore lane markers). i pretty much get an adrenaline rush everytime i'm driving, so it was worth it....and the looks you get as you scream past someone in a Boxster or a Beamer, like "hey, you shouldn't be able to pass me?!?!?!".....ahhhh, but i am... beastie: total money into it was around $11,000 for the engine swap, the Tien Flex coilovers, the rotas, the strut bars, camber kit, exterior mods, sound system mods and the pretty stuff on the engine. It's kind of a lot, but i got a bank loan to help and i would never have been able to get a car that performs this well for 11 grand if i went a different route... one car that comes close is the Tiberon, I was shocked that this car was easily hanging with me on the highway (speeds 65 to 125mph), until i read up on the GT version: 172hp and a whopping 180ft-lb torque....but that car is still around $18,000, so i feel pretty good about how i've spent my money... the DC sports 4-1 header and engine bay loom aren't on yet, but i will re-post pictures once those are in place and i have time to wash the car from the road trip out to syracuse, NY and can get some better lighting to do the picts in too. thanks for the compliments guys....wouldn't have been possible without the advice i picked up here!! |

And sweet car man, must have cost a load for all that dynamat; but it looks sick. I'm curious on you ¼ times when you run it on the track; I'm planning on doing the ITR swap in my '94 when my lazy ass gets a j-o-b. Also really liking the tails, definently better than the other ones you have the pics of. |

Re: I'm back with PICTS--B18C swap & Dynamat
aleho nin: do you mean you don't like the old tails with the metal mesh or the new tails red/clears with nite-shades....agreed that the old ones were lame, but the new ones seem pretty low key...matter of opinion anyway...
well, the dynamat probably added a total of 75 lbs to the car, but it was worth it...i can't tell you how much it contains the music inside the car and also blocks out road and engine noise....i'd add 200 lbs of the stuff to get this ride quality any day....but i'm not super weight-concious when it comes to my car... ace...thanks, and i will put up much better picts in a week or two and also drop the old picts off of the site, i think everyone still thinks it's rolling with those old altezza crap-tails i had on there... civic spoon: That's really funny you mention thompson rd, cuz my hotel was the red roof inn right next to dunkin doughnuts on thompson road...i went past there one night and saw a bunch of imports and muscle cars, but i had JUST gotten pulled over by a cop on thompson road about 1/2 mile before the dunkin doughnuts...the cop was pissed b/c i took the car from a stop light up to the 45mph speed limit really quick (left him a few car lengths behind--didn't realize i was lined up next to a cop at the line)...so he pulls me over and asks me if i want a ticket, "no" i say and then he throws my liscense at me and says "THEN SLOW DOWN"...think he was pissed i took him off the line, or else he was wanting to give me a ticket for accelerating to up to the speed limit faster than his crown vic could... wish i could of stopped in at the parking lot on thompson, looked like a good collection of cars. |
