TTT's CIBS Kit

Coolerman's awesome Clutch Interlock Bypass Switch ... been installed for a while, just remembered to take pics last night. Sorry it's a bit dark. Any questions about this kit, now available from Coolerman, can be directed toward me or (even better) him.

Pic

The black pushbutton engages the clutch interlock. When the button is pushed, the red LED comes on and stays on (to remind you that you used the clutch interlock and so it can be used again without turning the key off) till you turn the key off ...

Just curious, have you gotten much use out of the CIBS kit?

Has it been for getting up a hill after stalling or for starting the truck when sleeping and its cold out?

I have yet to use mine to start my X stuck on a hill but that's just a matter of time, the old Pathfinders came with the same type of switch from the factory and I used it more than a dozen times in off road situations...well worth it. I typically use it now when I am loading stuff into my truck and just reach over from the passenger side and start the truck. Mine is mounted in almost the same spot as Mikes, I have the light on the top flat part of the plastic and the switch on the side of the bulge in the plastic instead of above the key hole.

Thumbs up

That's cool. I guess I'm going to have to put that on my "mods to do" list.

Well...

I have used mine on a hill. Although it was not necessary, but I was testing it out. It was a decent grade..:flash:

I often use it at home...When warming the truck...It's very convenient..Put the truck in Neutral, set parking brake, push button and start truck. Now run back inside before I get to cold..:alien2:

My switch is not mounted where T's is, but I wish I would have thought of that location...Maybe I need to move mine..

Not an incredible amount yet, but I haven't had it for ve ry long and haven't hweeled more than a few times since I got it. But I can tell that it's going to save my ass sometime in the winter ...

Well, since you brought it up! To me the best use is when pulling a heavy boat up a very steep launch ramp. No fun when you stall in front of a bunch of bikini clad young ladies Using CIBS just start the truck in gear and go! (Where I launch requires 4-wheel drive to get up the ramp!)
For those interested? Wilbur came up with the orginal request to do this mod. We built one for his Frontier and it worked! Some members of MAXC then wanted them so I designed the current version with the LEDS just for them! Mr. T, FSRBiker, and Vikram were all instrumental in testing and designing the first kits allowing the final version to be easy to install. Each user comes up with a cool place to mount the switches and LED but I like Mr. T's! (Really don't know if he was the first though...) Anyway there is the history of CIBS :sun:

I finally got pics of the Coolerman's CIBS installed in my truck! I have the dual color led: green is, depress the clutch to start, and red is no clutch to start! Works great I bumped it about two feet up my driveway this morning!

Looks good! Clean install too. I will add your pic to the owners pics on my web page if that's all right? Let us know what new uses for it you come up with!

Yes you can use the pic. I also have one with it switched to red! I think the best use I will get is starting the truck from the back seat when out camping when its cold!!! Pain in the butt to engage the clutch with a D-cell maglight and start the truck!

It probably would have helped get you started up Pakipsie Gulch too.

That wall was rather a bitch! But you and Chris C made it over okay with manuals? Think the swampers weren't aired down enough, too?
