important wiring question
i'm gonna change the speakers on my friend's 90 Buick LeSabre tomorrow. Adam Sandler's song Piece of Shit car doesn't do this thing justice.
i looked at the back speakers a few weeks ago, and i've never seen a car like this. a. the wires go thru a harness before they go to the speaker, and are soldered on instead of just having that cool (and very convenient slip on thing). b. this one is really good. the + and - wires are BROWN AND GREEN. what the hell?!?!?! anybody have any suggestions as to which is + and which is -? don't really want to screw up her car (all though at this point, buying her a new one would probably be easier). if anybody can help, i would REALLY appreciate it |

Re: important wiring question
disregard the colors if your just changing speakers. the important thing is to remain consistant. on one speaker just label the wires on the left a and the ones on the right b. then do the same for your other speaker. when you drop in your new ones, connect the a's to + and b's to -and you should be good. afterwards you can test for polarity by switching the leads of one speaker and then listen for bass response. if bass response got weaker then you are out of phase. you should switch them back. if bass is stronger after switching, then your straight leave it like that.
