Up #$%^ crick, any advice?

Well I got 2 tickets last night, yea! I need to know if I have any chance of keeping my license.....

I was going to do a top end run down a nice 4 lane road. Well I forgot that local smokies have jurisdiction on one part of this state(PA) route. I passed vascar lines doing 72 in a 50. 160 bucks and 4 points. Next, I roll up and there is a car in front of me, so I go to the right lane and pass him. Then I slowed down and made a left turn to go home. Well apprently the car I passed speeded up before I breaked in attempt to catch me. Now I was in a "speed contest", and racing on the highway as the officer so nicely put it. 280 bucks 3 points plus suspension if I plea guilty.(dont know how long untill convicted) I asked the cop if I was going to lose my lisence and he told me no! Since I was only getting 6 points I would be ok. Well where I come 4 + 3 is 7? What an idiot. Not to mention he didnt know that you get suspension for racing. I hate townies. soooooooo Here whats the cop did. Pulled out of his spot, and followed me to my house! He pulled me over in my neighbors yard. This means he never turned his lights or siren on to let me know he was behind me. I had know idea! What an ahole. I dont think that it matters, but it bugged my parents that he did not pull me over on the road that he was patroling, for our neigborhood is under state poilce protection. Anyway, should I try and fight the racing ticket or not? I need my license because I have to go back and forth from school(college) and work on the weekends. ( got to now, 440 dollars in tickets)

I am suck a wreak... Anyone have any advice on what I should do, or should I just suck it up and take the suspention and pay the fines?

Pennsylvania speeding Ticket

The first thing you should do is to plead not guilty to both tickets. I believe that you can do this by mail in Pennsylvania but the clerk of court can tell you.

On the Vascar did the officer that read your speed also do the stop? If not then both officers will have to be present for the trial. This increases your chances of the judge having to dismiss the case or either allow you to plead guilty to Section 3111 which is a nonmoving violation and there are no points.

The speed contest ticket is very serious and you should consider hiring an attorney to negotiate for a lesser offense. He will probably handle both tickets for one fee.

If your parents do not have an attorney then they may want to check out Pre-Paid Legal Services.

The attorney will save enough to more than pay for his fee. Generally a speed racing ticket will increase your insurance by 150% over what you are paying now for the next three years.

I would go to court over both of the tickets, they may drop one. Sometimes it helps to have one of your parents go to court with you. I did this once and they dropped one of the tickets I recieved. When you go over 6 points in PA with a regular lisense you have to take an easy test at the local penndot place. When you pass the test they take 2 or 3 points off your lisense. If you get six or more points again then they take your liscense away. I'm pretty sure that is how this works. Once you pass the test dont get any tickets for a year, I believe they drop 2-3 points a year. Let me know if this helps

First of all, thanks for the advice from the helpful posts. It turns out that super cop was not prepared for the hearing, and did not want to go in front of the magistrate. Regardless, I have relatives that are lawyers and they gave me a lot of tips and info; I was prepared. So the cop sits with me in the waiting room and tells me this, so we cut a deal. Since he did not catch the other "racer” he would drop that charge if I plead guilty to the speeding ticket. I pondered this and agreed, only because even though he wasn’t prepared, it was still up to the magistrate, obviously. I did dress with a suit, minus the coat, and I did take my father. I do not know if this had any impact, but it may have since most of the other kids in the room had jeans and a t-shirt on.

And for the last comment, I am only human; I make bad decisions, and mistakes. It is unavoidable at times, it was one of those what the hell things, and I guessed wrong. It happened; I did the best, for myself. Maybe you can tell me what type of being you are? You are telling me not to break the law, well someday you might break the law for a bad decision, and hopefully, nobody will help you because you’re an arrogant prick.

I know it is a little late, but for future reference on speeding tickets, check out www.beatmyspeedingticket.com

And in regards to your comment about needing your license to get to school and work...even if you lose your license for speeding or whatever, you can still get a conditional license that allows you to drive ONLY to school and work. I have a friend who has one(3 speeding tickets in a week...he lost his normal one)
