Survey: Where did you get your JDM motor?

Just curious to see everyone's experiences with the major online JDM sellers such as hmotorsonline, jhpusa, passwordjdm, any others I don't know about yet or left out...

I've searched a lot and all I can find are baseless website names, not telling whether someone had a good experience with buying one of their motors. So I figured it'd be nice to get everyone's experiences in a thread...maybe even make it a sticky if it gets popular enough.

And yes, I am asking for myself...the H23 in my 93 lude si blew up yesterday so I'm looking for a "quality" place to purchase a JDM H22a/LSD 5 speed swap. Basically I'm looking to find someone that won't just take my money, and screw me with a beat-up 80k mile motor that's burning oil and a slipping clutch...

Thanks in advance for advice, I hope we end up with a nice long thread here...

this question was pretty much asked in a similar post in this very forum and a reply was added less than a week ago. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...&highlight=h22 true, it asked about h22's specifically but you'd think quality and service would hold true for all engines sold

Re: Survey: Where did you get your JDM motor?

I went through Hmotorsonline and had a god experience, the guy talked to me for a long time about my swap telling me what parts from what I needed, also helped me with a question about my other car, arrived pretty quickly and was a very clean engine. they say they ship them dry but mine arrived with fluids though, no big deal except for when I layed it over with the valvecover off and got oil/coolant all over the driveway.

Got a ctr motor from www.inlinefour.com for $4,000 with everything in mint condition. I noticed they just raised all of their prices though..

Yeah, I saw that post when I was searching, but I was looking more for people's experiences than just the posts telling vendor's URL's. That post did help with pricing though seeing as I am looking for a JDM h22a.

Thanks for the posts guys, anyone else care to tell an experience? Good or bad...

Re: Survey: Where did you get your JDM motor?

I got mine from
Jazz Pro Parts, Inc.
www.jazzproparts.com
214-454-4018
972-692-7757 (Fax)
apperently he is having a sale on H22a JDM Longblocks for $1350. Can't beat that with a stick! I got an automatic because I didn't want to do the conversion quite yet. The problems I encountered with the engine are: The distributor was broke, the alternator was not fuctioning <You would be able to use yourse off the lude>, the wiring harness was cut before the clip so it was useless <Here again I think you would be able to use the one off the h23, and if your car is a non-Vtec you can get a V-Tec sub harness from Hasport the Civic one they have advertised will work>, and the Header was cut before the hook up, but I think he gave me that header because I bought DC Sports Headers from him. All in all I got a nice well performing JDM H22 engine DC Sports Headers and RSR Ex-Mag Exhaust for the price a normal person would spend on the engine alone, and now he droped the price even more to $1350. Happy Hunting I hope all gose well with your swap!
