Question removing rear view mirror??

hey, I am trying to remove my headliner (sunroof problems) and I have to take off my rear view mirror, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the plastic cap that covers the screws off without messing up my headliner (groves,, indents holes and stuff) anybody got any suggestions??...

thanks

It just snaps in, but it's a biatch to get out without either putting marks on it, or snapping the plastic clips that hold it in. Basically though, squeeze sides of the the cover towards the rear of the car, and it will sort of flip down towards the front of the car. That's the best way I can think of to describe it.

mirror

This is a HONDA goof.............
The only way I have removed the mirror is to grab the mounting support between the mirror and the roof attachment and pop it loose. A good strong jerk will do it. I have done this on numerous HONDAs, hate to do it but I know of no other way to remove it.
By the way, sometimes the little cover piece breaks........sometimes it doesn't........good luck

Re: removing rear view mirror??

just grab the arm of the mirror and pull hard, the whole thing will pop off except the bracket that holds it. then you can unscrew that and put it all back together.

Re: removing rear view mirror??

so, do you have to be extra strong to put it back in. The red civic mirror is in the car, but I have yet to figure out how to put it back in.

Re: removing rear view mirror??

GTA is right just grab it and yank it off then you can unscrew the screw (hmm) and reassemble dont do this to many time the little barbs the stick out in the mirror part have been known to break after you do it 5 or so times. HMMM dont know how I know that but dont do it too much
