96 grand cherokee alarm

I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee. I have misplaced my keys with my keyless remote, so I have been using my spare key with no problem. Now, when I unlocked my door the alarm started going off and the car wont start. I cant figure out how to stop the alarm without the keyless remote! I would appreciate any suggestions!

You need to close and lock the doors manually with the key. i have a 95 Eagle Vision that does the same thing sometimes

I know on my '98 ZJ that the only way to de-immobilize the engine and turn off the alarm is with the remote, as far as I know there is no way around it without getting a replacement. I hope I am wrong!

Yeah, you are wrong. Either front door keylock will disarm the alarm. Now, on some of the '98 on up have the security on the ignition too but that is separate from the entry alarm.
