300zx Investment
Yes how is everyone at the 300zx forum? at this time i am not an owner of a 300zx but i am just wondering about if one gets one what would be a good investment. in my past i have noticed people on the autotrader webside selling their 300zx tt (z32 90-96) nationwide posesses 600+hp for about 2k and above that amount for the value it normally sells for if it didnt have the modifications. with the z models people say the best one is the tt model i have tried to like the car model but i have noticed my favorite one is the 2+2. the body design is heavier but is designed nicer looking it doesnt have the HICAS system that some people have problems with. the insurance is dramatically lower it has functionable rear seats (for those who are not too tall), the 2+2 seater in america didint come in a tt model but i notice that it can be swapped w/ the vg30dett engine in the car. Of course if i kept a 300zx more than likely i would perfer to keep the car but if i didnt would trying to resale a 2+2 5 speed 300zx tt (jspec/or aspec engine) w/ some mods for the same value as the 2 seater tt break any rules if i attempted doing so or would it be a waste of time getting some work done on the 2+2
Tell me your thoughts streetsailor |

well ok guy. i have a 300zx 2+2 and i love it. i agree with u on the body shape looks nicer on this model. i think it has a longer more elegant look. the rpoblem comes in with power. i am in the process of gettin the money together to do the twin turbo swap. from what i have heard. it is not an easy task. especially if u are not mechanically inclined (not sayin u arent). im not that much either. thats where friends and family come in. the easiest way to do the swap is get a front clip of a TT. there is a guy named samhain AKA wes who operates in a business that can supply u with what u need. talk to him 4 details. good luck and happy Zing.

hmmm okay yahhh!!! checking the forum.............checking the forum again as time passes again hmmm.... i guess if its a car taken care of w/ good money invested in it and people dont think your work of art stinks then it sells eh?? to me at these days since gas prices has gone up being a car salesperson is having its slow days (i know someone who is one) yes i agree w/ family and friends helping out but i could also help them out by having back seats when going to a party to do something instead of being at the house all day when the spare time has its moments right? the 300zx is great w/ value but maintaining it would probably mean needing a spare cheap car to get to work or renting one just in case
thanks againStreetSailor |

Anyway...besides not being able to understand half of this guys posts I don't get: If you want a TT Z buy a TT Z. They make them so you don't have to. And really the rear seats in a Z are more like a nice little storage shelf. Add to that the the 2+2 is a few hundred pounds heavier give or take and that the gas tank is now well behind the rear axle...well just sign me up for a 2 seater. That and the Z is not a car you really want to drive every day if for no other reason then it will just get hit, stolen or if nothing else your going to rack up alot of miles on your oh so expensive VG. And if you do any amount of performance work on your engine you are not going to want it sitting around in traffic. In my mind there is no reason to buy a Z to drive to work. But if you want a toy car for the weekend, something for a show, or want to head to the track to do some serious racing, then a TT is your best bet.

yes. i agree with brokeas**** too. if your goin for a backseat for your family. not a good idea. u will hear more complaining then anything from the back seat unless u have kids that u dont plan on growin to i say about 5 feet tall. if u want power and u ahve a second car. get TT. if u dont have a second car but stil want a Z. the N/A is pretty decent with power but also a little more manigible for everyday.

Re: 300zx Investment
yes, i have heard a lot of people say the back two seats don't have any room for anybody that is a teenager or older. but it would still be cool to have a 2+2 TT in the states, it is pretty damn rare. if you are really set on a 2+2, then i guess go for it, but otherwise i would just get a 2-seater TT.

Yes yes i know the whole, just buy a TT , but the thing is, Id rather not sell my car, buy a new one and have to most likely get it all checked out and fix any problems on it all for the same cost as swapping. It would be different if I said from the start, I want to buy a NA then make it a TT, that would be dumb, but since thats not the case, I have this option. Plus i just like the look of the 2+2 personally. I dont care of weight and all that, Im not a every weekend track guy, I could care less. If I was a serious racer, of course I would want less weight but im not. Its the fact of haveing a 2+2 TT which is rare and fact of having a fun car for me. If it ever came down to having 600 hp no seats in the back wouldnt hurt me much cause even with the extra weight im still gonna rock people racing me.

hey stealth32. i think u and me think exactly alike. i am in the same exact position u are in and i feel the same way. are u gonnna do your swap yourself or did u decide to ship it to SPG or Z1?

Re: 300zx Investment
If you want a TT, buy a TT...the swap is a pain in the nuts. In K3 and Stealth's cases, they already have their cars and are already attached to them...this isn't the case for you...buy TT to begin with and save yourself the regret and hassle later on. The back seats are more of a decoration or "nice little storage shelf", as Broke put so well. I had an 86 2+2 and wished the whole time that I either had back seats that were usable or a turbo...

that all depends on shipping cost and time. If i can have it done here for cheaper in a good amount of time ill do that. but if it ends up cheaper sending it away ill just do that. Yeah good to think we think alike. It makes sense, why sell the NA use that money for a TT then obviously get it with mileage that someone DEFINITELY ran the shit out of.Boom there is a problem right there. I want a fresh start. I want to know who is causing the problems.

Re: 300zx Investment
That's good thinking...that's why I would just buy the cheapest TT I can find...barely running even, then get a rebuild on it...then it's basically a new car anyway. But you're already attached to your car, so that kinda makes selling it tough. I know how that goes...I regret selling my old 2+2 to this day...all "4" seats of it...

Re: 300zx Investment
people say sell your n/a and get a tt, well i can't, i am already attached to my n/a and i could never sell it. so i will do a tt swap far far far far far down the road. and i mean far down the road.
