ECC not working

I just bought a 1997 Ram 1500 Club Cab and the cruise control does not work. The green light comes on when I activiate it, but it will not hold speed at all. Any ideas? I assume these newer ones don't use vacuum lines.

Re: ECC not working

I just had a similar problem. Check the vacuum line from the check valve to the c/c module. My line was crak there, it is located right under the battery.

Re: ECC not working

Woo hoo! Another person with this agravating problem. You didn't mention it, but anyone here will bet money that your a/c switches from dash vents to defrost vents when you accelerate don't they? And even though they are new, they still run off a vacuum and the a/c and cruise run off the same lines. Check your vacume line that goes from under the battery, to the passenger side of the intake. If it doesn't have any holes in it, check the cruise control servo, which is under the battery where the vacuum line goes. Oh, by the way, to check the cruise control servo, you're going to have to remove it from it's location. Your best bet is to remove the servo and bracket as one piece. Otherwise, well, i'm not even going to tell you the other way to do it. The bracket is held onto the battery tray with 3 bolts. I believe they are 10mm. If not 10mm then 1/2 inch. Good luck
