installing radiator Q?

hopefully this doesnt sound to dumb, but i just got a new c&r radiator and have some install quesiton. is it just simply draining the old radiator, disconnecting the hoses and swapping the new one in? or is there other stuff to look for and do. it came with one fan so i need to hook up the ac fan. any help and advice would be great....thanks

Re: installing radiator Q?

Basically yes, but you can also run a hose through the system to flush it out, just make sure you refill it, put in all the plugs, and plug in the fans before you start the car. I replaced my radiator about a month ago, it was really quite simple.

the radiator has two fans on it. A/C and radiator fan. are you saying there's only room for one fan?

Re: installing radiator Q?

Didn't you keep the fans from your old radiator? My radiator didn't come with any fans, you just use the old ones. Even if the radiator is bad, unless you crashed and messed up the fans, then you can use the old ones. In your case, use the new fan you got, and use the old one that fits the other space since they are different sizes.

i did keep the old fans from my old radiator. but on my new radiator there is no way to connect another fan to it. do they sell mounting kits at like a pepboys? or how do i go about hooking the fan on there.

you'll have to do some fabrication. When I bought my replacement radiator, it had room for both fans, so I just took the old fans off the broken radiator and put them on the new radiator.

Re: installing radiator Q?

If I remember correctly, the C&R radiators comes with that single fan to replace the two stock fans. To be positive, I would send them an email to confirm this fact. But for the while, I think you should be okay with one fan as long as you don't overwork your engine and keep an eye on the engine temp.
