one more question regarding BF Muds

I just special ordered 4 31x10.5x15 bf muds km for my X from costco.. 121.00 each tire which includes mounting balancing, rotation, tire fix fo life of tire, etc.. good deal?? I hope...
Anyways I already have my torsion bars cranked up about 13/4 inches and have added the slr 2" shackles to the rear... Will I need to trim any to accomadate these?? Thanks for da hlp.. hawaiix :sun:

You will probably still need to trim your plastic wheel flare. If you don't know how much, just take them off before you go get your tires (3 screws hold them on, and two snaps). Then you can cut them back with the new tires for a guide.

Adjusting your torsion bars will have no impact on the amount of plastic you need to trim (despite what youmay have read elsewhere). T-bar lifting will raise the *ride-height* of your truck, that's all. It will not limit full compression AT ALL. Under full compression, your tires will still hit your inner fenders just the same no matter how much torsion bar lift you do. If you run large tires [offroad] YOU HAVE TO TRIM your fenders, that's all there is to it (unless you don't mind rubbing). If you run 31's you just have to trim a little, 32's require a bit more. If they're Swamper's, add even more to that (and it still won't be enough). Shackles help a *little* in the rear, but that's not much of a problem area for 31's. 32's in the rear will hit the fuel filler neck some, but its not too bad. AAL's in the rear act the same as T-bar lift. They will have NO IMPACT on full compression, other than limiting how often you hit it. Nothing personal is meant by this, xterrahawaii, I just felt the need to clear this up, as there is a lot of mis-information floating around.

I think you mis-read something? All Xterra Hawaii asked is if he has to cut for the new size tires. And the answer is YES! All a T-Bar adjustment does is give you a higher ride height. It does nothing for tire clearance.

Perhaps I jumped the gun a bit, but there seems to be a common misconception that T-bar lift eliminates the need to trim fenders. I just wanted to make it clear that it does NOTHING to help the situation.

DO NOT remove the flares between the wheel and door! They usually break a mount or two in the process and may not go back on at all. If you need to trim.

I have taken mine off 5 or 6 times and have never broken the mounts. Maybe you need to be more careful.

xterrahawaii level the saw at home. I drove around for about a week before I did my trimming. You should be fine to get home. They only rub at the extremes. I also found it easier to trim with the tires off my truck.

If u have a dremal rotary tool the work great for this i did it on my frontier and u cant even tell i did it.

Here is what I use. $4.00 at Lowe's. You can leave the tires on and it is ten times faster than a Dremel.

A utility knife with a new blade in it will do wonders, too. Cuts through the plastic fairly easy...

Got my new 31's on MT- km's LOVE THEM... now just need to get um muddy... I really like the size... Kinda glad I didnt go with the 32's, unfortunatly I cant justify getting them... Here on Maui most of the dirt roads are private, beaches arent very accessible anymore But evry month or so I go around the back side to go camping and have found many trails to play on... othere wise its a daily driver on the pavement to work... So I think they'll fit my every need.. Well well see.......!!

I haven't gotten big meatz yet but I have been thinking I will use heat to "re-contour" plastic parts. Not open flame :flamer:
More like heat up an old putty knife or some damn thing and apply it.
