Help finding PCV Valve 98 Cav - RS
I'm having some difficulty finding the PCV valve on a 98 Cavalier RS. The schematic is different than the other posts and the Chilton doesn't cover this model in their general cavalier repair manual. It's the 2.2L engine. Please help!
Thanks! |

Re: Help finding PCV Valve 98 Cav - RS
I just replaced the PCV on my 96 Cav. It is located on the top left of engine block, I would think 98 & 96 shared the same engine. You have to unscrew the "black" retaining cap and pull out the connection tub to see it.

Was it hard to find or under something else? I looked all over the visible sections of the valve cover for a black cap or anything that could house a PCV valve, but didn't see anything. Does your engine have the fuel injector casing over the valve cover?

Re: Help finding PCV Valve 98 Cav - RS
the black cap is a ring shape 10-12 point star on the outside (diameter of a dollar coin) on the top (passenger side) and back of the engine block (next to the belts). I first had a hard time twisting it open by hand and eventually I did it with a plier/wrench. Be careful not to break it.
If you do it search on "PCV Retainer" and you will come across this post http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...t=pcv+retainer There is a picture of the diagram. BTW, it is very easy and just be careful not to break the retainer ring. The PCV is totally hidden away... Help this help you. |
