reverse lights
i have a '94 cavalier coupe, and recently my brake and reverse lights stopped working. i changed the brake lights and that fixe those. but when i went to change the reverse lights, the new lights still did not work. i checked all the fuses and none of them are blown, the license plate lights work still too. does anyone know what the problem with my reverse lights might be?

The same thing has happened to me on my 2001 cavalier. I can't figure out what's wrong.

Re: reverse lights
something similar to that happened in my 01 ford focus zx3
... what happened was that my system was creating shorts, the trunk was rattling too much. it created a short in between the trunk panel and the license plate, the wires that connect to the license plate light were touching each other...this might be the problem. just open the trunk panel, just like if you are changing the bulb for the license plate and check the connections, this might help.

Re: reverse lights
if its a 2.2 check the reverse sense switch on the top of the transmission. I have a 95 sunfire with the same problem and the connector on top of the transmission had a bad connection, i pushed down on it they worked, hit a couple bumps while driving and they stopped working, just a thought
