91 Cutlass Supreme 3.4L DOHC Oxygen Sensor location

Can anyone tell me where the location of the oxygen sensor is on this engine? The Haynes manual does not specify it, doesn't even say if there is one or two... (I'm assuming one)

I drove onto ramps and looked all around on the exhaust manifold to try to locate the damn thing but I can't see it. When I went to canadian tire they said it takes 1 hour to change it, so maybe it is burried deep inside somewhere...

Thanx!!!

I have a 94 Cutlass Supreme Manual. If the codes match up, I can perhaps find this out for you. Look for your Engine Emissions Label in the engine compartment. Please give me the code in the upper left hand corner of the Label. I'll try to match it up.

code in the upper left hand corner? Is this it?:

LLA
3.4Liter
M1G3.4V8JAZ5
MBO-1D

If it matches up great... if not then thanx for trying anyways!

Re: 91 Cutlass Supreme 3.4L DOHC Oxygen Sensor location

On a "W" class, the heated oxygen sensor is located behind the EGR and back by the crankshaft position sensor back by the firewall. You have the M class, so I don't know if it will be in the same area.

An explanation of the M1G3.4V8JAZ5 is as follows:

M=1991 year
1G=GMPT car
3.4 is the Engine Displacement
V=Vehicle Class=Gasoline Vehicle
8=the Fuel Metering=MFI or SFI or MFI/SFI
JA=Catalyst Designator
Z=Engine Family Suffix Code=Describes Emission System
5=Check Sum Digit

I hope some of this helps. I think the Sensor will be near that Crankshaft Position Sensor, as that was the general location for all engines listed in the service manual for '94.

Hi rbade. Thanx for checking this out for me. It does help, as chances are the sensor will be in roughly the same position... thanks a lot! I'll let you know in the next couple of weeks if we find it...
